Sefton Council Benefit Advice Team – Welfare Rights
Many people find the benefits system hard to understand.
Because of this, a lot of money in benefits is not claimed each year.
Sefton Council offers support to help residents get the benefits they are entitled to. The team is made up of fully trained Welfare Rights advisers.
Our service is free, confidential, and available to Sefton residents.
The Welfare Rights Team can help you with:
-
Checking which benefits you may be able to claim.
-
Help to fill in benefit claim forms (Not Universal Credit).
-
Challenging benefit decisions. This can include representation at a tribunal, where appropriate.
-
Advice about benefits when returning to work. This includes “better‑off” calculations to show how work may affect your income.
Universal Credit support.
We do not help to complete new Universal Credit claims.
