Good times and giggles are guaranteed in pubs across Southport Town Centre this winter thanks to Sefton Council’s Tourism team.

Bespoke Trails

The much loved Southport Comedy Pub Crawls are making a welcome return to the town due to high public demand and will feature five bespoke trails across Winter 2025 and Spring 2026.

Each Comedy Crawl features four fantastic comedians performing in four different venues. The monthly event kicks off on Wednesday, December 10th, with the audience meeting at Southport Market from 6 p.m. for a 7 p.m. start.

From there, the audience will embark on a “mirthical mystery tour” of bars and pubs around the town, guided and hosted by comedian Brendan Riley.

Fifteen different venues are set to host the Southport Comedy Pub Crawl project, providing a much needed boost to hospitality revenue in the town centre during the winter period.

Cllr Paulette Lappin, Deputy Leader of Sefton Council and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Employment and Skills, said: “We know lots of people and businesses have been asking if the comedy crawls would return after their last run in 2019 so we are delighted to have been able to make sure they do!

“The crawls are a brilliant way of discovering what Southport Town Centre has to offer this winter and support our wonderful local businesses who need that extra boost during what is traditionally a slightly quieter period.

“It’s fair to say the demand for the crawl’s return has been substantial so I encourage people to secure their tickets quickly before they sell out!”

Each pub crawl will be hosted by Southport Comedian Brendan Riley, of Big Comedy UK, who is working alongside Sefton Council to make each event a success,

Brendan said: “They were such a vibrant feature of the Southport Comedy Festival until our move to the big marquee in Victoria Park and so many people have been asking us when we’re bringing them back!

“We will be doing a different trail each time but we’ll be starting at Southport Market, which is a fabulous meeting spot and the perfect place to grab some delicious food before the fun begins!

“If you’ve never been before, the Comedy Pub Crawls are hilarious. They’re very chaotic - in a good way! Normally in a venue you’d get the stage, you’d get lighting, but here the comedians and the audience make the best of the space and the situations available - it’s very improvised and interactive.

“It’s a superb opportunity to go out with your friends, have a laugh, and to discover some great new places in Southport town centre that you may not have tried before.”
