Poets Park Family Fun Day a Huge Hit with a Powerful Message on Preventing Waste

Bootle’s Poets Park in was buzzing with excitement on Tuesday, as hundreds of local residents, came together for the Poets Partnership Family Fun Day.

Family fun

Children enjoyed three fun bouncy inflatables including a penalty shootout, as well as dancing to sounds provided by the lively DJ and exploring a wide range of stalls. And families tucked into a range of delicious food.

Partnership

Poets Park Family Fun Day was made possible thanks to Community Interest Company Capacity, in partnership with Sefton Council, Plus Dane Housing, Riverside, Prima Group, One Vision Housing, and Crosby Housing Association.

Making a difference

The day was also about making a difference. Sefton Council’s Waste Management and Street Cleansing team were on hand, litter picking and helping to keep the park spotless.

Interactive displays from Capacity and the Poets Partnership, invited residents to share their ideas for improving Poets Park. And an educational scavenger hunt for children promoted the importance of reducing waste, littering and preventing fly-tipping.

Back to school ready

Crosby Housing Association supplied free pre-loved school uniform to dozens of families to get “back-to-school ready”.

Sefton Council’s Early Years team also kept the youngest visitors entertained with drawing activities and shared valuable advice for parents and carers of under-fives.

Cllr Peter Harvey, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Street Scene, said:
“It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the park, connecting with neighbours, and getting involved in the conversation about looking after our community.

“Events like this show the power of partnership working, bringing people together for fun while also inspiring positive change.”

Ian Reed, Chief Executive of Plus Dane Housing, said:
“As a partnership we feel a real pride in supporting our residents and improving the spaces around them, especially in Poets Park where a lot of houses in the surrounding area are managed by housing associations.

“We are committed to the Poets Partnership plan so it’s brilliant to see this event bring people together, strengthening our community ties, and inspiring positive changes for Poets Park.”

Neil Kenwright, Head of Neighbourhood Services at One Vision Housing, added:
“We’re proud to support events like the Poets Park Fun Day. It’s a great way to engage with residents with our waste prevention message, whilst promoting sustainability, and strengthening our community ties.”

Plans are underway to organise more events like these, with hopes to make them even bigger and greener!
