Crosby Library getting brighter & greener
13 February 2026 2 min read
Things are set to get brighter and greener at Crosby Library as Sefton Council refurbishes and restores its 45 spectacular chandelier lights.
Seven-metre drop
Originally installed as a feature when Crosby Library first opened in 1968, the 45 lights, which hang over a 7-metre drop, needed an update.
A full restoration with energy-efficient equipment by the Council's Sefton Arc team is now underway meaning library users will be able to bask in new-found brightness soon.
Energy-efficient
When she dropped in this week to see the work underway, Cllr Liz Dowd, Cabinet Member for Communities and Partnership Engagement, said: “I’m delighted to see these 45 lights being restored and repaired using energy-efficient lamps, and Crosby Library being returned to its former glory.
“It’s a great facility much loved and used by local people of all ages for a broad range of activities so I’m glad we are putting the shine back on it, or should I say, ‘in it’."
Fantastic selection
Like all libraries across Sefton, Crosby Library has a fantastic selection of books for people of all ages and abilities. It also has a selection of audio books, large print books and graphic novels.
