Sefton Council is congratulating those individuals and organisations in the Borough who have been shortlisted for the Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards.

Four from Sefton

Among the finalists who will be at the awards ceremony in March will be four from Sefton.

Sarah McLaughlin at Creative Balance, an art therapy company specialising in working with children, based in Crosby and Formby, is a finalist in the People’s Choice & Arts Organisation categories.

Bren Riley’s Big Comedy UK, who work closely with the Council tourism team and who coordinates lot of events including the Southport Comedy Festival is shortlisted in the Business in the Arts category.

Sefton Children’s University, which is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop a love of learning in children, is among the finalists in the Improving Education & Learning category.

And the Imagine Bamboo is Everywhere event, which took place in Southport’s Kings Gardens in August and involved Bootle based designer Julian Taylor, is shortlisted in the Environment category.

Valuable and vital work

Cllr Trish Hardy, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing said: “I would like to congratulate all the Sefton individuals and organisations that have been shortlisted from over 600 entries in these fifth annual Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards, both for their shortlisting but also the valuable and vital work they have been involved in across the Borough.

“I wish them every success in the future and at the awards ceremony in March and hope that people will vote for Sarah McLaughlin in the People’s Choice category when voting opens in January.”

Voting opens in the New Year

The winner of the People’s Choice Award for Outstanding Contribution to Culture, is voted for by the public from six finalists. Online voting for this category will open in the New Year.

The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at St Helens Rugby League Stadium (Langtree Park) on Thursday 7 March 2024, the area being this year’s Borough of Culture.

Showcase

Cllr Mike Wharton, Liverpool City Region Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Business said: “These awards give us a chance to showcase what our area has to offer. I’m delighted we’re continuing to see so many nominations from across the city region and from such a variety of businesses, organisations and individuals.
