Flexible Working Hours Scheme

The Flexible Working Hours Scheme is designed to provide employees with greater flexibility to enable them to balance their work and personal responsibilities. Service provision is of paramount importance, and the successful operation of the Scheme is dependent upon the co-operation, goodwill, reasonableness and common sense of employees and management.

The Scheme is available to all employees, subject to it being operationally achievable. There are areas, therefore, where it will not be applicable, because the needs of the service require attendance at specified times.

It does not apply to school based employees, although Governors are encouraged to adopt flexible working arrangements which suit the organisation of the school.

The Scheme has been agreed with the Trade Unions.

The details of the Scheme are attached as follows:

Other Flexible Working Arrangements

In addition to the Flexible Working Hours Scheme, the Council has approved, in principle, a range of flexible working arrangements which employees may apply for.
