Getting Advice


  • Various staff have built relationships with internal and external providers, giving them a network of services to signpost CYP to.  
  • Be Active - school holiday programme activities.  
  • Working with children and young people 0-19, helping with education, training, and employment, encouraging good health and wellbeing, promoting community resilience.  
  • We offer a junior club and family cookery for 5–10-year-olds.  

To offer advice and guidance to families who choose to home educate.  

  • Information advice and guidance through the Sefton Council Webpage and Social Media platforms for primary age 5–10-year-olds.  
  • Provide universal half term programmes through the HAF for children 5-10 years.   
  • All centres are accessible to parents with children 5-10 years to receive face to face support on issues that may be affecting them, and the right support is offered at the right time.  
  • Home-Start is a voluntary organisation committed to supporting the welfare of families with at least one child under 11 years of age. 
  • Trained Volunteers offer weekly support, friendship and practical help to families under stress in their own homes to prevent family crisis and breakdown.  Home-Start provide a free counselling service for supported parents and run weekly baby and toddler groups in the community for isolated families.  
  •  Weekly Pram walks, holiday activities and day trips for families. Provide baby clothes and equipment through our re-use project. 

Fun 4 Kidz Play and Child Care are a registered charity that was set up in 1998 to provide out of school clubs for children 5–10-year-olds in Netherton, however due to the excellent reputation the organisation has built up and its ability to develop and expand services to meet the needs of local communities and families. Fun 4 Kidz, helping families throughout Merseyside.  

  • All library staff are MECC trained and have a variety of resources to signpost children and families to services.  
  • There are dedicated computers for children in each library 5-10 years.  
  • Each library has a dedicated section where free loan of children's books is available.  
  • Two libraries run special sensory play sessions.  
  • Free children's e-books and e-audio books are available via the library website.  
  • Scheme where 4–11-year-olds read 6 books over the summer holidays. This scheme supports child literacy.  
  • Ad hoc holiday activities are run such as slime making days, Phizz bang sessions, coding clubs. 
  • Each library provides class visits for schools in the local area throughout the year. 
  • Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre is a safe and fun environment. It is a place to learn, play and socialise.  
  • Offers: Mon, Tues, Thurs – Youth Project, cooking sessions, 5-8 school holiday play scheme.

  • Open access to the Universal offer with one point of contact for 0-19 (25 with SEND) services in Sefton CYP with duty practitioners available to provide advice.  
  • School Health Drop-in Clinics.  
  • CHAT Health.  
  • Universal Offer to the HCP for all families in Sefton which includes health & wellbeing and development reviews.  
  • All children have an identified named school nurse or health visitor.  
  • Raising awareness of universal services available to all children and families in Sefton.  
  • The CYP workforce are trained in ACEs and to deliver trauma informed care.
  • Ykids is a youth, children and family charity based in Bootle offering a wide range of activities including: 
  • Weekly Children’s and youth clubs aged 5 to 18 years 
  • Support for families ( of children attending groups) including community pantry, parent and family groups, book club.
