Types of certificate
Full birth, death, marriage and civil partnership certificates contain all information recorded in the register. A short birth certificate is also available but it does not include details of the parents and may not always be accepted by passport offices or other organisations.
If the certificate relates to an adopted person, and is required in the person’s adopted name, please contact the General Register Office.
