Situated near Southport town centre on the A5267, Duke Street cemetery (PR8 6RH) is the oldest cemetery in Sefton.
The older part of Duke Street cemetery was designed by Kemp, a well-known landscape architect at that time and opened in 1866. To protect the heritage value of this older part of the cemetery, a vehicle restriction is in place. If you have access needs, please contact the Burials & Cremation office on 0151 924 5143.
Beyond the Eliza Fernley memorial is a memorial commemorating those who died in the Second World War. Beyond this, to the left, are First World War graves and a memorial.
In the newer part of the cemetery you will find a baby memorial garden opened in the mid 1990s. Although the older part of the cemetery has large and elaborate memorials; only lawn type memorials are allowed in the newer part of the cemetery.
Duke Cemetery was entered into the Green Flag awards in 2011.
It is on the 43, 46 and 46A bus routes.
